Father's Day reading list

Father's Day is around the corner, and  I am always looking for cute and simple ways to celebrate my husband! He is an awesome and fun father, and we love to find silly books about dads! Here are our favorites:

Oh Daddy, by Bob Shea

A cute book about a sneaky dad that does silly things to get his kid to do stuff. My daughter always gives a dramatic "oh daddy" when daddy is being silly.

Daddy's Do it Different, by Allen Lawrence Sitomer

A girl describes how her silly daddy does chores differently than mom. I like it a lot, but sometimes moms are silly too.

Just Me and My Dad, by Mercer Mayer

I have a soft spot for little critter books, and my daughter loves them too. I love reading her the actual copy of the book my mom read to me at my parents house.

Knuffle Bunny Too, by Mo Willems

There is a mistaken identity of a loved stuffed animal, and The daddies save the day by making the midnight switch. I love   Mo Willems books so much! They are hilarious, and you may even catch me reading them in my spare time.

Nelly Gnu and Daddy Too, by Ana Dewdney

A daddy book for all the Llama llama fans! Playing is more fun with Daddy.

Papa Please Get the Moon for Me, by Eric Carle

A sentimental classic. Beautiful pictures, and kids begin to learn about the lunar calendar.

Board books for younger readers:

The Daddy Book, by Todd Par

A colorful board book about cool Dads around the world.

Daddy Hugs, by Karen Katz

A book about daddy snuggles, what's better than that!

Hello

Welcome to my blog! I am an avid blog reader, and love to write so I figure why not.  My great loves in life are my family, books, and food (especially books about food :).  I am always on the lookout for my next books to read (I always like to read a few at a time), and delicious things to eat, so I am going to share them all right here!

I went to school to become a children's librarian where I developed a deep love for children's literature.  I take my kids to the library weekly hoping to instill my love of reading in them! So far it's working my daughter is three and would be happy if I read to her all day, and I have to drag that girl out the library.

So what did we pick out at our library this week:

Kids:

Curious George Goes to the Hospital, by H.A. Rey

A classic. A great read if your child or someone you know is going to the hospital. We also have a bunch of princess, tv show based paperback books, but I like to bring home at least one big picture book we can read as a family.

Me:

The Mysterious Benedict Society, by Tenton Lee Stuart

I have heard good things about this book. I am not usually a mystery reader, but I am trying to broaden my horizons this summer.  I'll let you know.

Rude Awakenings of a Jane Austen Addict, by Laurie Viera Rigler

I just saw the movie Austenland, which I loved, so I thought this would go nicely with it, and who doesn't want an adorable chic lit book to read by the pool this summer! (Don't be jealous it's a kiddie pool, and thank god for the protective covers on library books cause my kids love to splash!

I am on the hunt for some good nonfiction...most likely about food.  I like heavier reading before I go to sleep! Happy reading!
